Adults-only hotel with a boutique feel
The Jupiter Marina Couples & Spa pairs peaceful surroundings with contemporary good looks. This adults-only property is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Portimao’s scenic riverfront, and a 15-minute stroll from the beach, bars and restaurants of lively Praia de Rocha – which means you can dip in and out of the action as much as you like. The hotel puts on a handy shuttle bus to get you to the latter, as well.
It’s tempting to stay put, though. With its earthy, island tones and floor-to-ceiling glass, this place has a luxe, Ibiza-style feel. The most glamorous space is up on the rooftop, where you’ll find an infinity pool offering stellar views, and a good supply of daybeds and loungers in gleaming white. A bar is within arm’s reach for drinks and snacks. Downstairs, the Soul Spa is equally chic – mood-lit and spacious, with treatment rooms for massages for two.
In the mornings, you can tuck into international buffet spreads in the Facho restaurant. It’s a waiter-service affair in the evenings, with popular Mediterranean dishes on the menu alongside local fare. Expect a spectacular setting, too, with an al fresco terrace overlooking the glittering yachts in the nearby marina. And the outside of the hotel is lit by LED lights after dark.
