The Poseidon Playa Hotel has a sought-after setting on Poniente Beach, just footsteps from the golden sands and showing off spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea. With the tapas bars of cobbled Benidorm Old Town also within easy reach, the hotel scores a double coup when it comes to location.
The list of family facilities is impressive here. There are two swimming pools within striking distance of the beach, separated from the shoreline by a palm-lined avenue. One is just for tots to splash around in, while loungers and umbrellas line the water for mums and dads in need of some R&R. Speaking of which, the hotel-run kids’ club keeps smaller guests busy, with arts and crafts, cooking lessons and games and sports from dawn to dusk.
In terms of food and drink, there’s a buffet restaurant that majors in international cuisine, and show cooking stations see chefs serving up made-to-order dishes. After-dinner entertainment is a big draw, with shows, family quizzes and DJs taking to the decks. There’s a brilliant pub, too, if you fancy low-key evening drinks, and the poolside bar takes care of daytime refreshments.
