The Jupiter Marina Couples & Spa pairs peaceful surroundings with contemporary good looks. This adults-only property is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Portimao’s scenic riverfront, and a 15-minute stroll from the beach, bars and restaurants of lively Praia de Rocha – which means you can dip in and out of the action as much as you like. The hotel puts on a handy shuttle bus to get you to the latter, as well.
It’s tempting to stay put, though. With its earthy, island tones and floor-to-ceiling glass, this place has a luxe, Ibiza-style feel. The most glamorous space is up on the rooftop, where you’ll find an infinity pool offering stellar views, and a good supply of daybeds and loungers in gleaming white. A bar is within arm’s reach for drinks and snacks. Downstairs, the Soul Spa is equally chic – mood-lit and spacious, with treatment rooms for massages for two. The indoor heated pool is part of the spa circuit and is chargeable.
In the mornings, you can tuck into international buffet spreads in the Facho restaurant. While in the evenings, there are popular Mediterranean dishes on the menu alongside local fare. Expect a spectacular setting, too, with an al fresco terrace overlooking the glittering yachts in the nearby marina. And the outside of the hotel is lit by LED lights after dark.
