Tumbling waterfalls, snow-topped mountains, and the mysterious Northern Lights – it’s fair to say that Iceland is a pretty magical place. And, like most things, the Land of Fire and Ice gets even better at Christmastime. It all officially kicks off on 11th December – Iceland celebrates 26 days of Christmas, putting our 12 drummers-drumming to shame – and wraps up on 6th January.
Despite the darker days, Reykjavik is lit up by trinket-filled festive markets and local restaurants serving mouth-watering feasts. You’ll also find ice-skating and carol singing in the capital city, while the wild landscape is covered in a blanket of powder-soft snow. So, if you’ve always wanted to go to Iceland, Christmas is definitely the most wonderful time of the year to visit.
