ninja-wheel #NInjaVerdict: Sentido Aequora Lanzarote

The Hotel Sentido Aequora Lanzarote Suites has long been a popular hotel choice for holiday-makers, but after a recent renovation and upgrade it was time to see if it still has the same pull for people looking for that accommodation that can tick all the boxes – location, cleanliness, facilities and service. We sent Q Radio’s Ibe Sesay and wife Colleen to investigate ……

Ibe: We spent five wonderful days at Sentido Aequora Lanzarote, and it truly lived up to expectations. This resort is ideal for all types of travellers—couples, families, or large groups holidaying together.

There’s something for everyone with several pools to choose from. Little ones can splash safely in the dedicated children’s pool, while adults can unwind in the serene, adults-only pool. Two more pools cater to families, including one with a shallow end and another larger pool surrounded by plenty of loungers— which was our personal favourite. Daily entertainment like bingo, water polo, and aqua aerobics added to the lively atmosphere, and even if you don’t participate, it’s still fun to soak it all in.

Dining options are excellent. The hotel features two buffet restaurants—one family-friendly and another reserved for guests aged 13 and up. Breakfasts offer everything from Spanish tortilla to full English fare, plus pancakes, waffles, and donuts with Nutella literally on tap. There are also lighter options like bagels, smoked salmon, fruit, and cereals. Lunch and dinner include freshly cooked meats, fish, pasta, pizza, and an impressive selection of salads and fruits.

A highlight was the à la carte “Don Paco” restaurant, an adults-only space offering a quiet, refined dining experience. We had the garlic king prawns and two types of paella (meat & seafood, and vegetarian)—each served in individual skillets and packed with flavour. Paired with chilled white wine, it was a real treat.

Between meals, the poolside snack bar served burgers, hot dogs, chips, sandwiches, and sweet treats—including ice cream, salads, and fresh fruit.

Evenings offered a range of entertainment. Early shows were geared towards children, with later performances for all ages—details posted throughout the resort. For a more relaxed vibe, the bars were a great option. We especially liked Captain Nemo’s, the adult-only bar, where cocktails like margaritas and espresso martinis were made to perfection.

We also visited the wellness centre for a deeply relaxing 50-minute massage—well worth the €59. The whole process was smooth and calming. Booking was easy, with good availability, and special offers available if you keep an eye out. The gym is compact but well-equipped with weights, cardio machines, and fresh towels.

Our double room was incredibly spacious, located on the third floor overlooking the pool, with sea views as well. It was nicely decorated with contemporary artwork on the walls and fully air-conditioned, featuring a very comfortable king-size bed. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony, thanks to the in-room coffee machine. There was plenty of hanging space in the built-in wardrobe, along with a security box for any high-value personal items.

The room had a wall-mounted 32” LED smart TV with Freeview channels, as well as access to Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney Plus. Housekeeping turned the room around daily, with bottled water replenished each time. A mini bar was also available, which was convenient when getting ready for dinner.

The bathroom was equally spacious, featuring an oversized mirror, wash hand basin, soft white towels, robes, and slippers. The shower was excellent, with both an overhead rainfall option and a handheld showerhead. Complimentary shampoo and body wash were provided. The bathroom also came fully equipped with a hairdryer and a makeup mirror.

Our balcony had two sun loungers, a table, and chairs, with plenty of space to spare. It was lovely to sit out there in the mornings and for that picture perfect sunset.

We were so impressed with the whole resort, the staff were so helpful and friendly, everywhere was so clean with bins, cup recycling drops and toilets darted about everywhere. We also noticed how accessible the resort was with one of the family pools even having a ramp down into the water.

Overall, Sentido Lanzarote delivered on every front: comfort, fun, relaxation, and quality. We had a fantastic stay and would happily return.

Some key points to note:
